Online Safety
We are in the 21st century, the internet can be a wonderful place, but at the same time it can be a scary place, below are some basic tips on the internet and what to do, links for some services are below the list
Internet Safety Rules
1. NEVER accept random links sent to your social meda that are friends unless you know what the sent link is
2. Block ANY bots sending you links on social media, this includes pornographic material or hookups, this is fake
3. NEVER click links on websites that look dodgy for free money or free anything, again scams
4. DO NOT DOWNLOAD FREE STUFF (Unless its open source or trusted) This is things like "FREE GAMES" on weird website or friends who haven't spoken to you in a long time
5. Keygens, cracks and all that for licenses software also can be trojans and viruses, do not download these either
6. Never give your password to ANYONE
7. Big tech companies such as Microsoft DO NOT ask for credentials, they say anyone who poses as these companies is just trying to get your information also known as scammers
8. Trust is a big deal on the internet, so you need to KNOW this person before giving them any of your personal information such as names, phone numbers
9. Do not say about personal stuff on the internet as there maybe someone watching that you do not know of
10. NEVER accept extremist groups or cults, stay safe and away from any of this behaviour, contact local police units if it is a true extremist group asking for you to come to a place
11. Be cautious with people you speak to online, especially on social media, there are a lot of creepy people out there and to stay safe you keep yourself to yourself, do not send explicit images to these types of people, you go straight to the police about it.
12. NEVER USE The same password for all your accounts, this is to prevent someone having access to all your accounts across the internet
13. Avoid scanning QR codes on random websites as you do not know where the links lead to, unless it was made by you for fun.
14. Avoid scanning QR codes on the streets aswell, unless this is company based or public transport, random QR codes in an alley should not be scanned
15. Use a secondary factor authentication for many services like steam, microsoft and many other websites to protect yourself further
16. DO NOT save your bank details on any computer, it must be kept either in memory or on paper locked away from anyone being able to get it (EG: Safe)
17. Use a password manager that has both encrypted files and auto-password generators to stop the password you have being too generic, it does mean you won't remember these much, so keep this file safe, i would suggest using external memory sticks or encrypted drive containing these files if you wish to use a local database instead of online ones like dashlane.
18. Due to the recent Google Chrome issue, I wish to inform people to not use the autofill on any browser to stop such things happening in the future!

There are several best practices you can follow to protect your internal network from internal attacks:
1. Implement strong passwords and enforce password policies: Use strong, unique passwords for all accounts, and require users to change their passwords regularly.
2. Enable two-factor authentication: Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to provide a second form of authentication, such as a code sent to their phone, in addition to their password.
3. Use network segmentation: Divide your network into smaller segments, and restrict access between those segments as much as possible. This can help limit the damage that can be caused by an attacker who gains access to one segment of the network.
4. Implement access controls: Use tools such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and network access control lists to control which users and devices are allowed access to different parts of the network.
5. Monitor network activity: Use tools such as network sniffers and log analysis software to monitor network activity and identify suspicious activity.
6. Regularly update and patch systems: Keep all systems and software up to date with the latest patches and updates to fix vulnerabilities and prevent attackers from exploiting those vulnerabilities.
7. Educate users: Train users on security best practices, such as creating strong passwords and identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
By following these best practices, you can help protect your internal network from internal attacks and maintain the security of your systems.
